WASHINGTON, DC (October 10, 2007) – Capitol City Associates, Inc. (Capitol City) owned and operated by a resident of Forestville, Maryland, is proud to announce that the company’s President and CEO, Rosalind Styles Stephenwoof has been selected to receive the prestigious Top 100 Minority Business Enterprise Award. The University of Maryland University College, the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs (GOMA) and The Maryland Chamber of Commerce notified Ms. Stephenwoof of her selection earlier this month. This program is designed to salute the region’s best minority and women business owners and to highlight their achievements.
“As the entrepreneurial campus in the University System of Maryland, we are honored to support the working men and women who are building businesses and future opportunities”, says Susan C. Aldridge, President of the University of Maryland University College.
Capitol City, based in the Anacostia Section of Washington, DC, is a minority, female-owned consulting firm, which designs and implements programs and services geared to promote economic and business development opportunities for small and minority businesses in the construction industry. Capitol City ensures that major development projects meet Federal, State or local contracting goals for small, disadvantaged, minority, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses. Ms. Stephenwoof also serves as the President of the National Association of Minority Contractors—Washington, DC Metropolitan Area Chapter serving Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia.
A panel of distinguished judges chose Capitol City as an entrepreneur that demonstrated outstanding achievement in four key areas: business development, client satisfaction, professional affiliations and community outreach.
Sharon R. Pinder, founder of the TOP 100 MBE Awards Ceremony said, “The business owners selected for this award represent the best of the region’s more than 350,000 women and minority owned businesses. Their contributions have had a major impact in maintaining Maryland’s vibrant economy.”
